Do you offer LE/Military discounts?
Sorry, but no. The amount of time it takes to do this work vs. what we charge practically makes this a non-profit venture. However, we give LE/Military orders top priority. (Civilian customers: we appreciate your understanding in this.)
What’s your estimated completion time?
Currently, three weeks or less for grip work that doesn’t involve backstrap fill/cut or beavertail fabrication. As stated above, ASAP for LE/Military customers.
Can I ship you my gun from outside Florida?
Yes, Boresight Solutions LLC (BSS) is working in partnership with Security Arms International LLC (SAI). SAI is an FFL/SOT, and is the exclusive sales/distribution representative of BSS custom work. All shipments must go to SAI per instructions on the order page.
Do I need to strip the grip frame?
It saves us time, but it’s not necessary.
This is my carry gun – OR - I have sensitive skin…will the gun chafe me?
Everyone has a different tolerance, but in general you likely won’t have a problem. We strive for a happy medium texture which provides a very secure gripping surface under hard-use conditions, but won’t snag clothes or tear up skin. We can make the texturing more or less aggressive at your request.
What’s the benefit of rounding the trigger guard? Will my gun still fit the holster?
If you’re looking to pare the gun down to its most streamlined profile, rounding the trigger guard is a good mod. We haven’t had any problems with our own guns fitting loose in the holster, nor have our customers notified us of any holster fit issues.
What’s the benefit of texturing the forward flats of the grip frame?
It gives your trigger finger a tactile indexing point when your gun is out of the holster & not on target, e.g. in the low-ready. On the support-side, it gives your thumb a tactile indexing point, which ensures a consistent grip.
What are the benefits of having night sights with contrasting colors, e.g. green front & orange or yellow rear?
It comes down to personal preference. Some say it’s trendy. Some say there’s a physiological benefit, i.e. a bright front dot is easier/faster to acquire if the rear dots are contrasting or subdued.
Can you install night sights?
BSS no longer offers sight installation services, and now focuses solely on custom grip work. However, our partner SAI is equipped to install sights on most handgun platforms, and such services are easily done in conjunction with grip work, as the BSS/SAI operation is under one roof. SAI offers a variety of other custom services, and is a factory-certified Duracoat rep.
Will your grip reduction void my factory warranty?
Probably, but we’ve never had a customer report to us that his gun failed as a result of our modifications. Custom work is done at your own risk, and in this case, we feel that the benefit far outweighs the minimal risk. See disclaimer.
What if the F.A.Q. didn’t answer my question?
Email or call BSS or SAI, and we’ll answer direct.
