FEEDBACK FROM PROFESSIONALS![]() As a former Marine and currently a 15-year law enforcement veteran with a large South Florida department, I appreciate equipment that goes beyond “good enough.” I was issued a Glock in the police academy, and have carried one on duty ever since. Although I am an advocate of the Glock as a fighting pistol, in my opinion it has some negative attributes, specifically the slippery grip and somewhat awkward ergonomics. As someone who stakes his life on what he carries on duty, I’m automatically skeptical whenever I see something new hit the “tactical” market. Much of what is out there is, in my opinion, garbage and gimmicks, conjured up by people with little or no real-world experience, simply to make a buck off people who don’t know better. On the same note, it would take a lot for me to turn over my duty gun to someone for any kind of “custom” work. However, after seeing Boresight Solutions’ work firsthand on a friend’s Glock, and hearing positive feedback from several highly-qualified sources, I decided to give it go, although I was still somewhat apprehensive. That apprehension was put to rest quickly with a phone call to Ben Simonson, the owner of Boresight Solutions. I found him to be a humble and knowledgeable person who understands what is needed in the world of practical pistols. He didn’t hesitate to spend as much time as needed discussing my project to ensure that I would get exactly what I needed from the custom work. When I received my pistol back (a Glock 23 that I had carried for many years), I could see and feel the improvements immediately. I literally spent half an hour examining the gun under a light to find some sort of blemish or mishap. The detail, functionality, and craftsmanship are beyond reproach. After putting several hundred rounds through the Glock to ensure it was still good enough to bet my life on, I was even more impressed with the practicality, improvement, and overall quality of his reduction and texturing work. It fit my hand like it was molded for it, and the non-slip “lava-rock” texturing was tenacious without being harsh. I would recommend Boresight Solutions’ work to anyone, especially those who do more than just punch paper at the static range. From a law enforcement end-user standpoint, who has seen countless hyped-up "tactical" gimmicks and poorly executed modifications, I can honestly say that Ben’s work is second to none. Boresight Solutions brought my Glock to a new level of user-friendliness, literally improving on what has long been termed “Perfection.” Every officer I work with that has handled the gun has been equally impressed and sent off their own guns for work. In my opinion, no better recommendation can be made for Ben’s work than for it to be chosen by so many people whose livelihood requires them to carry a gun. If you are a serious shooter who appreciates quality craftsmanship and professional service, having custom work performed by Boresight Solutions is a worthwhile investment. Robert Kovach
Law Enforcement Officer ![]() As a custom 1911 pistolsmith, my eye for detail and quality handwork needs to be critical and discriminating. I was very impressed with Ben's work the first time I saw it, and after seeing more examples that demonstrated the spectrum of his capabilities, I decided to have him customize one of my M&P’s. Ben’s work is easily recognized by its unique three dimensional texturing, clean-cut borders, cohesive cosmetic design, and keen attention to detail. In high humidity, pouring rain, or just plain sweaty hands, the improved profile and aggressive texturing never lets me down, and the side benefit is that it looks great. It is always said that form must follow function, but is it too much to ask for both? I have never been a proponent of the "it's one or the other" idea, and Ben's work definitely has both function and form going strong. Suffice it to say that I’m a very picky customer when it comes to gun work, and when it comes to my polymer pistols, I will only send them to Ben Simonson at Boresight Solutions. Hilton Yam
10-8 Performance ![]() I have been a professional instructor and a competitive shooter for many years, both in South Africa and currently in the USA. I have always favored the Glock 17 or Glock 22 as my primary pistols, and in the past used skateboard tape to enhance the grip. I'm generally not a fan of doing significant modifications on my guns, especially not to something as inherently reliable as the Glock. However, I was also cognizant of the ergonomic shortcomings of the Glock profile, and also the downsides of using skateboard tape. After having the opportunity to see and shoot several Glocks modified by Ben Simonson at Boresight Solutions, I finally overrode my resistance to modifications, and decided to have Ben customize a Glock for me. After receiving that pistol back from Ben, I was so impressed with the quality and detail of his craftsmanship, that I immediately sent him another Glock to modify. Ben is an accomplished shooter and dedicated student, and his experience in that regard is evident in the meticulous, functional rendering of his work. I've found that he listens to what the end user / operator wants, and rather than take a "one-size fits all" approach, he does his best to tailor each gun to the client. That sort of attentive service goes a long way with me. I can say without reservation that Ben's work helped improve my speed, accuracy, and user interface with my pistols, and has in no way compromised their reliability. I have since won many matches and trophies for USPSA shooting using my Boresight Solutions-modified Glocks. I wholeheartedly endorse the professional service and high-quality modifications offered by Ben Simonson of Boresight Solutions, and I'm proud to say that through working and training with him, Ben has since become a very good friend of mine. Lead Instructor MDFI www.michigantrainer.com ![]() I am not a major fan of plastic pistols, but purchased a Springfield XD45 to use as a "fly-to" gun when I teach in locales that I can't drive to. I did not intend to spend any money modifying the XD...until one of my students showed up with the same gun sporting a Boresight Solutions grip make-over. After shooting his pistol, I had mine done, and am of the opinion that this is the best grip treatment I have seen...and I have seen LOTS of them...both tactilely and aesthetically. It feels great in the hand and is actually attractive to the eye. Good work, Boresight! Bill Jeans
Morrigan Consulting www.morr-con.com ![]() I had a grip reduction and texturing done to my Glock 17 about 8 years ago. It was a decent, functional job for those times, but now, after approximately 180,000 rounds, the gun is basically shot out. I replaced it with a new Glock 17, but because I was so accustomed to my old customized Glock, I just couldn't get used to the ergonomics and slippery feel of the the unmodified gun. I knew that the only way I could be happy with my new gun was if I got it reduced and textured. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember the name of the guy who'd done the reduction to my old Glock. I did some research online, and found that there are a lot of shops doing this sort of custom work nowadays. None of what I saw online appealed to me. I was able to inspect and try out a variety of customized Glocks too, because many of the students attending our courses have had grip mods performed on their guns. Although some of their guns had been customized by the best-known names in the business, none of the work impressed me. The mojo I was looking for --- that perfect balance of form, function, and craftsmanship --- just wasn't there. That changed when I went down to Miami to conduct a Dynamic Handgun course, where I noticed right away that several of the local students were using Glocks, XDs, and HKs that had very distinctive and attractive grip work. I shot a couple of the guns, and was amazed at the excellent ergonomics and the "just right" feel of the texturing. The work was so consistent from gun to gun, it was obvious it'd been performed by the same hand. And the more I looked at the guns, the more distinctive beneficial touches I noted, and the more impressed I was by the quality of the work and the major attention to detail. To put it simply, I could tell that whoever had done the work was a serious shooter with an artist's eye for detail, and it was BY FAR the best custom grip work I'd ever seen. The students put me in touch with Ben Simonson of Boresight Solutions, the wheel man behind the custom work. He and I spent a lot of time discussing the work and his philosophy behind it, and I knew I'd found someone who understands what it takes to make a good gun great. I'll also say that I appreciate how he offers only a few packages, but they contain pretty much everything that is necessary to improve the ergonomics of the gun. The packages are reasonably priced, considering what's included, and he doesn't nickel and dime you by charging extra for things that are critical to improving the shootability of the gun. He does offer a wide variety of ala carte options, but those come down to personal preference or user-specific necessity. From my perspective, all of the packages and options he offers serve an obvious practical purpose, and I didn't find anything that I would consider "window dressing." Here's how mine played out: Because I like the 1911 platform, and am often required to run a 1911 when I conduct training for military units who utilize 1911s, I wanted the grip on my Glock to be as close to 1911-profile as possible. Ben recommended his Extreme Reduction, as that delivers such a profile. To that package I added a few options that specifically suited my needs: Glove Bevel, Finger Groove Removal, and Textured Frame Flats. At first I was going to only have my Glock 17 done, but I was so confident in what I'd seen so far, I decided to have my Glock 19 done at the same time. Both those guns are now finished and back in my possession, and the work is everything I expected it would be. I've run the guns hard and fast, and the ergonomic improvements and positive texturing are incredibly beneficial. The new grip angle makes the gun point flat like a 1911 when I bring it on target, and the way my hand now positions high on the grip provides for better recoil control, thus allowing for faster and more accurate follow up shots. The texturing has proven to be just right in that it doesn't tear me up like a cheese grater when my hands are dry, and it doesn't lose its effectiveness when my hands are wet or oily. The combat benefits are obvious. One thing I feel is particularly noteworthy about Ben's work is how it looks. To me, how a gun looks is always secondary to how it functions, but with Ben's work there is no compromise in form or function: it looks every bit as good as it performs, and performs every bit as good as it looks. His ability to not only give you back a weapon system that is fully functional but also has some sex appeal is true art. I was so pleased with how my first two Glocks turned out that I immediately sent him a Smith & Wesson M&P, and then another Glock 17. I'll finish this up by stating that getting a gun customized by Boresight Solutions is like getting a tattoo: once you get one done you will probably end up getting more. Cheers,
Christopher E. Costa Magpul Dynamics LLC. Director Of Training 904-704-1970 www.magpuldynamics.com ![]() I have been an avid shooter since the 1960s, and have owned many Glock handguns since their introduction in the 1980s. In the early 1990s I became involved in the tactical shooting community, and have hosted and coordinated many such training courses and events at my facility in Lakeland, FL. As such, I've seen how popular the Glock line is amongst students who attend these courses, and I'm also privy to their complaints about its shortcomings. While Glocks are certainly a fine handgun, it is my opinion that they are not "Perfect." The primary complaint about the gun is the grip ergonomics. Many shooters, myself included, find the grip bulky and awkward, and the plastic becomes very slippery in wet hands. Because I personally didn't like the grip ergonomics, and because I frequently lend my Glocks to students at my facility, over the years I have had "grip reductions" performed on several of my Glocks. The grip jobs were functional, but left a lot to be desired in both looks and ergonomics. Consequently, I've always been on the lookout for someone who did it better...someone who could not just remedy the ergonomic problems of the factory Glock grip profile, but who could render it in a clean and professional-looking manner. Recently I happened upon the work of Boresight Solutions, and knew that I'd found what I'd been searching for. To put it simply, Ben's work is superb. He combines excellent ergonomics, optimum texturing, and great attention to detail. His work is also very fairly priced, considering the high quality of the finished product. So far I've had him modify two of my Glocks, and everyone who has tried them has been very impressed with the texture, improvement in ergonomics, and the overall quality of the work. Surprisingly, a side benefit of his "extreme reduction" is that it seems to lessen the problem of many right-handed Glock shooters putting rounds low and left. I highly recommend Boresight Solutions to anyone who shoots a Glock on a regular basis. Irvin Lehman
www.southernexposuretraining.com ![]() I've seen Glock grip reductions performed by various shops for at least 20 years and I have often recommended them for students with smaller hands. But Ben's work at Boresight Solutions jumped out to my eye as being the best I had ever seen. I was for the first time motivated to have the work performed on my own pistols! I liked the way the Glock 19 turned out so much that I almost immediately ordered the work for the Glock 21. Randy Cain

![]() For those of you who know Seth Berman and me, you know that we like not liking things. With so much hype and slick salesmanship out there, we are very skeptical of new things, and are extremely slow to change or adopt something new when it comes to equipment. When it comes to the modification of firearms we are even more hesitant. We recently had the opportunity to meet Ben Simonson of Boresight Solutions LLC, based out of Miami FL. Ben hosted and attended our recent Combative Pistol Course. Prior to the course we were aware of the custom work done by Boresight Solutions, and we'd looked at some pictures of guns modified by Ben, mostly Glocks. Even though the modified guns looked pretty cool, we were doubtful that they'd live up to the hype and the glowing customer comments on his website. During the course both Seth and I had the chance to shoot several of the students' guns that had been through Ben's shop. Well, we aren't ashamed to admit that his work lives up to the hype. Simply put, his work is amazing. It should be known that we generally prefer GEN I & II Glock 19s, as they don't have the finger grooves that we hate. The thing is that these early GEN Glocks are becoming harder and harder to come by. Several of the guns we tried that Ben had worked on were GEN III Glocks, and he'd removed the finger grooves in addition to performing one of his grip reduction packages. The way he did it didn't make the front strap weak or prone to flexing, either. His detail work on the edges, and complementing the natural lines of the Glock was impeccable as well. We are pleased to have found an option that allows us to get a GEN III Glock, and have it modified to our preferred specifications. As most trained shooters know, the first thing you need to acquire when shooting the pistol is the master grip. During a real scenario this is even more crucial since you may not be able to use your weak hand for support. The finger grooves on GEN III Glocks can prevent that initial master grip, and make it difficult to shift your hand if you miss it the first time. The guns that have been modified by Boresight Solutions were so improved that they felt like they melted into our hands and seemed to actually grab us at the same time. They were not slippery, which is a good thing if you are in a wet environment or have blood on your hands. Saying the grip is comfortable and secure does not do it justice. There is much to be said for having someone work on your pistol who understands the extreme conditions under which a primary defensive pistol needs to perform. Ben, a military vet, avid shooter, and training junkie does understand. MCS supports and endorses all work done by Boresight Solutions LLC. (Now I am off to find a new Glock 19 for Ben to do his "plastic surgery" on.) George Mathies
